Arkansas Joins 26 Other States With Primary Seat Belt Law

Beginning June 30, 2009 the primary seat belt law goes into effect in Arkansas. Before June 30, 2009, police officers can ticket you for not wearing a seatbelt only if they pull you over for something else. But beginning June 30th, not wearing a seat belt is reason enough to pull you over.

According to the state police 7 out of every 10 fatalities involved people who were not buckled up.
